Adobe CC (‘Constant Chain’) option launched

Imagine actually owning your own image editing software rather than just renting it. Imagine using your own personal asset management system to store your image collection, so you can access it any time you want, without needing to connect to some server farm somewhere. Imagine not being part of a captive market – being able to switch to a competing product whenever you feel there’s a better option out there.

Sounds crazy, sure, but there are actually businesses out there that offer these kinds of products! Latest cab off the rank is long-established image editing specialist Corel, with its newest photo editing and graphic design suite – PaintShop Pro 2018.

The new PaintShop Pro 2018 and PaintShop Pro 2018 Ultimate include:
– Dual Workspace Environment: For neophytes (always wanted to use that word!) there’s the Essentials workspace for an easy-to-use, streamlined look. For more expert image editors the Complete workspace offers access to the full suite of editing and design capabilities.
– Simplified, Touch & Pen-Friendly Interface: More control over features, functionality, and customisation. Larger icons make it easier to work on touchscreens, 2-in-1 devices, and high-DPI monitors.
Faster Launch Time & Performance: PaintShop Pro 2018 launches more than 50 percent faster than the previous version (X9), while the software’s most popular tools now respond ‘with near-instant results’. Text wrapping is faster and depth of field adjustments can be achieved four times quicker than before.
Colour Palettes, Brushes & More Creative Content: 10 new colour palettes, 30 new brushes, 30 new gradients, 30 new textures, and 15 new patterns.

Paintshop Pro 2018 has a depth of field adjustment capability.

The PaintShop Pro 2018 Ultimate version also includes a collection of add-ons such as Painter Essentials 5; Perfectly Clear 3 SE for image restoration and customisation; and AfterShot 3 – ‘get a one-two punch to rival Adobe’s Creative Cloud photography subscription, only without the monthly fee — including, digital asset management, RAW conversion, and adjustment.’

PaintShop Pro 2018 and PaintShop Pro 2018 Ultimate are available now – for outright purchase! Recommended retail pricing is $99 for PaintShop Pro 2018, and $129 for PaintShop Pro 2018 Ultimate. A PaintShop Pro 2018 and Video Studio X10 bundle is $199.

By comparison, renting Photoshop will cost you about $30 per month and the full suite of Adobe applications over $70 per month, and Adobe can spring a price increase on you any time they want.
