Photographer charged with child sex offences

A Brisbane photographer charged for 79 child sex offences allegedly used his ‘fine art photography’ studio to ‘procure and abuse children’.

The 38-year old man specialised in ‘artistic dance portraits’ of young children and offered photographic services primarily via social media, using his business as a ‘front’, police say.

A long-running police operation ended on Thursday, January 19, and charges relate to offences that took place between 2010 and 2014.

The man has been charged with 26 counts of indecent treatment, 30 counts of carnal knowledge of a child under 16, 13 counts of taking a child for immoral purposes, seven counts of rape, one count of making child exploitation material, and supplying dangerous drugs to a minor.

The man applied for bail last Friday at the Brisbane Magistrates Court, and he remains in custody. The matter will return to court next month.
