Fujifilm announces new fast lens, all black X-100S

Fujifilm continues to court well-heeled enthusiasts and the professional market with a fast prime lens for portraiture, and an all-black version of the retro-styled X-100S pocket camera.

The Fujinon XF56mm F1.2 R features 11 elements in eight groups including two ED elements, one double-sided aspherical element and four elements with a convex surface facing the subject, reducing aberrations.

The lens is constructed in durable metal giving it a high-quality feel, while the internal surfaces are coated to reduce ghosting and flare.

There is no barrel movement when focusing, which prevents dust particles from entering the lens, and the structure of the focus unit combined with a coreless motor delivers quiet operation and fast autofocus.

Fujifilm’s new black X-100S is compact, light and discreet – ideal for quick snaps on the go.

The compact, well-reviewed X-100S has the ability to capture high resolution images with minimal graininess, even at high ISO settings.

Optional accessories include a black lens hood, adapter ring for filter. and a matching leather case.

Fujifilm has not yet announced a price for a Fujinon XF56mm F1.2 R or X-100S. Both are expected to hit the market by March.
