JA Davey has announced February availability of two new DNP dye-sub printers, the Snaplab SL620A kiosk system for event photographers and retail environments, and the 8-inch DS820, capable of simultaneously running two different media grades.
The SL620A kiosk system combines DNP’s award-winning DS620A dye-sublimation photo printer, the DNP DS-Tmini order terminal head, and software for an easy and intuitive workflow that provides smartphone connectivity for iPhone, Android and Windows through a dedicated DNP transfer app or via the available hard-wired cables.
Additional printers can also be connected for large format prints including the DNP 8×12 duplex printer for photo books, calendars and more.
It will be made available in Australia with the increasingly essential (see separate story) biometric software for ID/passport photo printing to create a true ‘all in one’ print solution.
The SL620A is compact and easy to operate for any event attendee or retail customer. The lightweight kiosk is easily set up and pack up, and and offers high capacity output without compromising photo print quality.
It offers a wide variety of print size options ranging from 3.5×5-inch to 6×8-inch, including the popular square print format at 4×4-, 5×5-, and 6×6-inch sizes. It will produce a 4×6-inch print in 8.3 seconds. Integrated photo editing software allows users to quickly edit any photo, as well as add borders or custom text. Photo books, border prints and ID photos can also be easily produced and all prints are available in glossy or matte finishes.
Built with DNP’s specially designed DS-Tmini terminal head, the SL620A eliminates the need for an additional computer. It features a powerful quad core processor, a 10.1-inch high-res touchscreen panel and a wide range of media card readers, including CompactFlash, SD, Micro SD, Memory Stick, MS Micro, xD and USB ports. The kiosk also offers the ability to easily transfer and print any photo from iOS and Android smartphones via wireless or cable connectivity.
The DP-DS820 prints at 8 x10 inch (203 x 254 mm), 8 x 12 inch (203 x 305 mm) and up to A4 (210 x 297 mm). It is a dye-sub printer for users seeking maximum image quality.
The DS820 can run two types of media: Pure Premium Digital and Standard Digital. With improved gloss level and the high density output, Pure Premium Digital produces prints which DNP says meet the standard of studio photographers, with resolution of 300x600dpi. Standard Digital (300×300) is more cost effective yet delivers high quality.
In addition to the classic photo finishes, matte and glossy, the DS820 offers ‘Fine Matte’ and ‘Luster’ finishes. With the option of using the High Density mode, the maximum black density of the Pure Premium Digital exceeds 2.4.
But perhaps the most versatile feature of the DS820 is its ability to ‘partial coat’. With this exclusive technology, the new DNP printer offers the possibility to print, with only one media, different finishes on one single photo. A single print can have both matte and glossy finishes in different areas and can thus highlight specific elements (foreground, background, text…), or allow you to add a logo or brand name in a distinctive manner. Available with a SDK (Software Development Kit), this represents a new product for creative professionals to offer their customers.
The printer offers prints from 4×8 to 8×12 inches, including the trendy 8×8-inch square format. It also features the A4 format and a new panoramic format (with SDK) up to 8×32-inches, perfect to for showcasing landscapes.
A new rewind function enables the most efficient consumption of consumables and more efficient inventory control.
The DS820 will be compatible with DNP’s range of software products, including Party Print for event photo, the kiosk software Tomo v6.1, the Nexlab 6 order management software, and the software application Hot Folder Print for enhanced print workflows in studio and event applications. Printer drivers are available for Windows Vista, Win7, Win8, Win8.1, Win10 as well as Mac 10.6 and newer.
