Epson releases film and photo scanner

Epson has announced the flagship Perfection V850 Pro, a powerful 4800 x 6400 dpi photo scanner for film and photo archiving, is available now for $1399.

epson_scn_ver3_tb_07_smlIt is designed to scan both positive and negative film formats, from 35mm slides and film strip to medium format 6x20cm. With the scanners optional Digital ICE technology defects like dust, scratches and creases can be removed automatically from films and negatives.

The advanced scanner has 4.0 Dmax optical density creating smooth gradations and fine shadow details for an accurate tonal range. Epson’s exclusive dual lens scanning system allows scans to reach a resolution of 4800 DPI on high-res mode, or a super high res lens mode of 6400 DPI for film.

Using an LED light source the V850 Pro requires 23 percent less power than previous Epson models.

The high pass optics with anti-reflection optical coatings, combined with a high-reflection mirror delivers an improved image quality with up to 33 percent faster scans than previous models.

‘With the Perfection V850 Pro Epson has incorporated everything we have learned on how to scan the perfect image,’ said Bruce Bealby, Epson Australia general manager and marketing. ‘The result is an advanced level of quality and performance for photographers and graphic designers. Digitised portfolios, unparalleled photo reproductions and other film applications can now be easily and affordably created in-house.’

The scanner features new sturdy film holders which deliver more consistent scans than previous models, offering hright adjustment levels for reater control. Two additional film holders allow the user to prepare the next set of scans while a batch is inside the machine.

The scanner comes with a one-year warranty, and Epson top line call service and support.

    I hate having to trim the top and bottom of ALL 120 film I have to scan. I love Epson’s response. “The 120 film is too big…” Really Epson! How long has 120 film been around and your Epson V700 120 holder was fine.

    Nothing like sticking your head in the sand Epsonm, like all the faulty printer heads that go in the 79xx/99xx printers.
